SPSCC Theatre Collective Presents French tale Amélie

Posted

"Catch Amélie at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage from May 17 to May 26."

The South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Theatre Collective presents the beloved tale based on a French film that follows a young lady who forges waves of joy and mayhem through her imagination and acts of kindness.

After love presented a chance, she embarked on a self-discovery journey, welcoming risks that came along in the pursuit of happiness.

The cast includes Jesse Morrow, Jamie Flynn Keenan-deVargas, Mike Gregory, Sara St. Clair, Nathan Groome, Ed Thorpe, Christine Goode, Madeleine Roy, Catherine Ricalde, and Naliya Rubin, and SPSCC students Alex Goodrich, Adrian Roberto, and Juliann Boling.

“Translating the magic of the film to the stage is both challenging and exhilarating. Our cast, technical director, stage manager, crew, music director, musicians, choreographer, costume, projection, sound, set, properties and puppet designers have all contributed to a theatrical whimsy that emulates the title character’s spirit,” said SPSCC Drama Professor Dr. Lauren Love in the press release.

“I am continuously in awe of the talent and dedication of the artists with whom I am privileged to collaborate, and so grateful for their vision, love for the theater, and kindness,” added Love.

A $15 suggested donation is at the door, and SPSCC students, staff, and faculty may enter for free.

More information, including performance dates and times, is available on the SPSCC’s Arts & Entertainment Calendar.
