Thurston County Commissioner District 4

With contempt in her heart

We are in a moment of history that is pregnant with possibility, but also full of danger. A time when circumstances can create further division in society or turn the tide toward improved collaboration and cooperative relationships. This requires exceptional and far-sighted leadership and statesmanship instead of the small-minded thinking that comes from adherence to a set of beliefs about one faction of our society.

Vivian Eason, a candidate for the Board of TC Commissioners, has said in a social media post, “Freedom of speech which is being censored, unless you protest and burn, loot, destroy under what dems believe is right.”

Do I really need to say more about what this narrow-minded expression reflects? How can you lead Thurston County to an even greater future when you believe half (give or take) of the population believes in burning, looting and destroying?

We need leaders with the ability to step beyond their biases to find common ground for building policies and solutions that provide for the quality-of-life and economic well-being of the whole community. Contempt for others leads one way only: down a spiraling path to hatred and ultimately violence. Isn’t it enough for us to see where the example of the hatred of Hamas toward Israel has led? Let’s remember that those who can make us believe absurdities can make us commit atrocities. Please vote wisely this election cycle.

If you are in the wonderful age group I'm in, seniors, you might have needed or need in the future access to a wheelchair, hospital bed, crutches, and many other medical supplies. And maybe you don't have funds for those items. There is good news! The Medical Equipment Bank that was closing its doors last month (after 14 years) has found a new location and will continue to be open.

Vivian Eason, a board member of the Thurston County Council on Aging, put to work her community advocacy skills to find a new location to keep the Medical Bank open. Next month, they will open at 3537 Martin Way E in Olympia. Many thanks to Vivian for helping keep this wonderful program open. If her name sounds familiar, she is running for County Commissioner District 4 as an Independent. It is nice to see people who are already helping our hometown and desire to serve the community in other ways.

What I love best about her approach in running for County Commissioner District 4 this year is that she is running as an Independent. Like she helped find a home for the Medical Bank so Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and everyone could access this needed community medical organization, she is running on a ticket to help ALL people of Thurston  County.

When I was looking to decide who to vote for? I read the article in the Senior News about how Vivian made it possible for the Medical Bank to have a facility from which to operate. So when someone reaches out to make a difference, not based on any gain, or any political party? It made me realize that is a person who will bring the attitude of service to the people in our county.

I love to vote for the person and in Vivian Eason I found someone who will make a difference in helping people in Thurston County. I urge you to support her because I believe she already supports us.

If the people of Thurston County want a future of a great place to live, work and raise their families they must vote for VIVIAN EASON! Vivian has worked at the County for 35 years. She understands the workings of the County but she is not a politician!! She is for the people!!!!

To a great future with Vivian!!

I really appreciate comments that offer positive input about the candidate a person supports. I'd rather know why a specific person is a good choice rather than reading negative comments about others. Thank you to those who are positive and give the reasons why they are supporting a candidate.

Do your research, think deeply and do your research, then vote. Vivian Eason ran against Tye Menser last year and lost. She campaigned with Joe Kent at her side at some events in our county. Now Joe Kent, a Trmmpist, primaried Jaime Herrera Beutler because she voted to impeach Trump for the insurrection on January 6th. Then he lost the Third District seat to a Democrat because even many of the Republicans in that district couldn't vote to put him in Congress. She is also backed by some of the folks that tried to destroy the Thurston Conservation District a few years ago. These are the kinds of affiliations that you may expect if Eason is elected here. Vote for a proven winner, not a MAGA affiliated sovereign citizen posing as an independent.

It's great to see some positive opinions in here about a candidate. I am familiar with Vivian and I am familiar with the tendency of those in this community who disagree with someone and try to defame them by tying them to something that they are not. Shame on the ones who seek to destroy someone's character, and much respect to those who stand proud of their support in spite of the group think of destroyers.
