Olympia Garden Club September meeting

Posted

The Olympia Garden Club has been an active/vital influence in the greater Olympia area since 1924 and is celebrating 100 years this year.  The Club provides education, resources, and networking opportunities to promote gardening and floral design, and serves the community with various projects to help beautify and maintain public areas

The usual meeting day is Thursday.  However, the September meeting will be on Wednesday, September 25 at the new meeting place:  Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1925 Boulevard Rd, SE, Olympia.

Visitors are welcome. The gathering begins around 9:30 a.m. with a social time and sales of plants donated by members.  Meetings begin at 10 a.m.; they include a business portion, a review of horticulture samples from members’ gardens, a report on the habits of various birds, and a floral design of the month.

Garden Club member Tara Keen will present September’s program: how to manage dahlias from early potting up in March, planting out, pulling some dahlias, dividing and storing them over winter, and protecting other dahlias while allowing them to winter over in the ground.

Members bring their lunch.  Coffee and tea are provided.
